Cuando yo estudiaba en la Universidad de Miami, no era raro toparme con ardillas voladoras, culebras, iguanas, cotorras y cualquier otra cantidad de animales que yo generalizo como tropicales. (Pueden apreciar fotos del campus en la pagina de UMiami.)
Con esa flora y fauna que armoniza el ambiente de UM, es fácil entender por que estos animales podían confundir este lugar como su hábitat natural.
Un animal que no me cuadra de mi actual Universidad de Norte son sus gatos. Cuando decidí dedicarle un espacio en mi blog, resulta que desaparecieron como por 2 semanas, y no podía obviarle fotos a mi actualización para que vieran que tan en casa se sienten aquí.
Hay de todos los colores, tamaños y estados de humor que te puedas imaginar. Es común ver a los estudiantes darles comida y hay algunos que hasta los cargan... ¡¡¡guacala!!!
Nunca he sido amante de los animales, no me gusta que los maltraten, pero hasta ahí. Estos gatos me perturben por alguna razón u otra; me parecen fuera de lugar, y lo peor es que siento que soy la única con estos pensamientos.
Me acuerdo que después de unos huracanes que afectaron a Miami, la poblacion de cotorras que vivian en la universidad incremento al escaparse de un aviario y decidieron quedarse en UM. No se si algo parecido sucedio en Uninorte con sus gatos, pero les dejo ese pensamiento.
When I lived at University of Miami, it was not weird for me to bump into flying squirrels, snakes, iguanas, macaws and other types of animals that I would generalize under the group of tropical. (You can see pictures of the campus by clicking on Umiami.)
After seeing those pictures, you might understand why the animals might confuse the campus with their natural habitat.
An animal that I can't seem to adjust running into at my current school, Universidad del Norte, is its cats. As soon as I decided I was going to feature them in my blog, they decided to disappear for about 2 weeks, and these photos were necesarry in this post so you could understand how much at home they feel here.
You can find them in every color, size, and even mood available. It is common for students here to feed them, and some of them even pick them up and carry them.... GROSS!!!!
As you can see, I have never been an animal lover and while I am animal cruelty, that is probably the best support you will ever get out of me. The issue with the fact that these cats bother me though, is that I seem to be the only one who finds this unacceptable!
I remember that after one of the many hurricanes that hit Miami, the Macaw population grew significantly due to them having escaped a local aviary and they seemed to have decided to make UM their new home. I don't know if that is the case of the cats in Uninorte, although I can't help but wonder.
